The wound is the place where the light enters you."
RUMI

Looking back on the stories of people I’ve had the privilege of working with and on my own personal experiences, I find this quote from Rumi to be true. Regardless of whether it’s a deep wound or a scratch, what happens in life leaves an impression on us.  When we acknowledge this and seek healthy ways to heal, we not only gain the capacity to recover, but we also learn how to more skillfully cope with situations in the future.  We grow deeper in our understanding of ourselves and the world around us and develop the ability to fully experience and enjoy life in all its seasons.

THE EMBODIED CENTER HELPS PEOPLE

Develop the capacity to be calm, aware and present
Overcome trauma and connect to an embodied sense of resiliency
Deepen one's understanding of Self and our place in the world

When looking at the offerings of The Embodied Center, you may have noticed that they are all body-based modalities - meaning that they are grounded in the mind-body connection and focused on the energy and emotions stored within the body. This is because the body, specifically the nervous system, has a physiological reaction when we experience a stressful situation. The nervous system protects us by activating a fight, flight or freeze response. But when an experience pushes the system beyond its limits, it can become stuck on a particular stress response causing anxiety, panic, hyperactivity on one end and depression, fatigue and disconnection on the other end.

Body-based modalities help reset the nervous system and facilitate healing in a variety of ways - from improving  chi, blood and nutrient flow, reducing muscle tension to promoting calm and relaxation. When the nervous system is stabilized or goes back to its base level, our brain’s perceptions and responses to danger settle, which in turn helps us retain a sense of safety. This opens us for more resilient coping, learning, and growth.

THE EMBODIED CENTER’S APPROACH

HEART-CENTERED

Working together, we will create an environment of safety, connection and respect as these elements create a strong foundation on which we could build a healthy working partnership.

ENCOURAGE CURIOSITY

You are encouraged to fully engage and participate in your process of healing and exploration, to learn and absorb what works best for you.

STABILIZE THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

The stabilization of the nervous system in the present moment is crucial as this leads to having a sense of being an observer on board as we navigate through what arises next in the healing process.

EXPLORATION

During sessions, we explore different aspects of your experience which can include narrative (telling your story), working with images and emotions and reconnecting these different aspects of experience with the body story.

ENERGY RELEASE and INCREASE COHERENCY

As a result of the exploration process, energy that has been stored in the body could be released carefully to support integration and growth from past difficult experiences which allows for increased flow and coherency in our tissues.
